Q: What is your name and where are you originally from? Was Philadelphia always your hometown?

My American name is Connie and my unofficial Korean name is Kyoori. I was born and raised in the western suburbs of Philadelphia. I’ve been living in the same house for the past 23 years of my life, so yes, Philadelphia has always been my hometown.

Q: Being accepted by the Eagles cheerleading squad seems nearly impossible I hear – what caused you to actually try out for the team?

I have always loved to dance. I grew up watching Janet Jackson on MTV and would imitate her moves from all her music videos. At the age of 7, I begged and pleaded with my parents to put me in ballet class. My mother is a very traditional first-generation Korean so she denied me of my dancing dreams at a very young age. I used to cry myself to sleep because I wanted to take ballet and jazz like all my other school friends. When I was 12 years old, my mother eventually allowed me to try out for my middle school cheerleading team. It was the closest to “dancing” I could get.  [Read more...]
