Why I Decided to Stop Reading this Bible on Sundays (By Moses Yoon)

(By Moses Yoon) I love church.

There is nothing better than people coming together to worship Christ, fellowship with others, and reflect upon one’s inner self. It is some deep, profound stuff I’m talking about here.

I also love the iPhone.

It is probably the most important digital gadget that I need and depend on the most – a to-do list, calendar, email, texting capabilities, internet, and  the bible app.

Recently, I’ve been noticing a very disruptive trend during the Sunday worship service. The pastor would ask the congregation to open the bible to a particular chapter and verse(s). So I do – I’d turn on my spify iPhone and click on my Bible app.

(Bible app is loading) Pastor begins to read the verses.

(Halfway through his reading, the bible app finally takes me to the book via the iPhone app.) I then click on the chapter. [Read more...]

(Video 1) – 3 Reasons Why Asian Men Should Clean the House (By Moses Yoon)

(By Moses Yoon) Before reading this article, take a brief moment to view the Konnect Magazine animated video on how NOT to respond with your Korean wife when she asks you to clean the house. The video may reflect the general attitude of Korean men and their role in the home. To all Korean men with a wife and/or family, are you helping around in the house? Do it, and your marriage will live!

3 Simple Reasons Why Korean Women Should Re-Consider Buying a Louis Vuitton Bag

(By Moses Yoon) When I was a little Korean kid going to a Korean church, I remembered something very clearly – “That is one ugly looking bag.” I noticed that a whole bunch (nearly all) of ahjimahs from the church had these awful looking bags. I wasn’t into bags or anything really back then. All of the bags looked the same. The Korean ahjimahs seemed to love holding these bags for some odd reason. I related these bags to old Korean ahjimahs. (Please disregard this article if you actually own this bag. I hope you understand – really!)

Fast forward to 2011. Holy cow! Young Korean women in their 20s and 30s have them too! After college, I noticed these same looking bags from when I remembered in the 1980s! Doesn’t fashion change from decade to decade? Apparently not. But, man, they STILL look uuuuugly!

Here are 3 simple reasons why Korean women (young and old) should re-consider buying a Louis Vuitton bag: [Read more...]

Ponder this: How come Koreans don’t have White or Black Friends?

(By Moses Yoon) If you read the title, you may or may not agree with this blanket statement. However, there may be some truth to this question that I’m introducing here. This question was in my mind after reading Pastor Tim Haah’s feature in November 2010. He asked the question of why Korean Americans have a difficult time achieving upper management positions in Corporate America. His reasoning was that Korean Americans may be having a challenging time inter-relating with non-Korean people from a cultural and professional perspective [Read more...]

Koreans Loving their Soju Drinks: Do you Soju?

(By David Kim) It’s lean, green, and in Korean bars it can be seen. Yes, it’s the infamous Soju bottle. I’m sure we’ve all seen the ads for it and we’ve all had a few, maybe more, bottles of it. It is the drink we Koreans love. It unites acquaintances to become closer friends and it reminds us of how the previous generations cherished this national drink.

Why do Koreans love their Soju? Good question. We will take a closer look into it and try and find out what makes this green bottle so special. Some say that Soju smells like rubbing alcohol. But others would say it has more of a vodka scent to it. So, if you like vodka [Read more...]
